Abstract

In the context of higher education undergoing rapid digital transformation, academic support staff at faculties play an important role in operating academic management systems, assisting lecturers and students, and coordinating digital-based educational activities. This study aims to identify and evaluate the core components of digital transformation competency among academic support staff, thereby proposing directions to enhance digital transformation capacity in higher education institutions. Drawing upon the DigComp 2.2, DigCompEdu, and Vietnam’s National Digital Competence Framework, the study develops a conceptual model comprising six key dimensions: (1) digital innovation and mindset; (2) device and software usage; (3) academic data management; (4) digital communication and collaboration; (5) digital content creation and administration; and (6) digital safety and security. Data were collected from 110 academic support staff at various universities using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. The results of Cronbach’s Alpha and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) confirm the reliability and validity of the measurement scales. Multiple Linear Regression analysis reveals that all six dimensions positively influence overall digital transformation competency. Among them, digital mindset, data management, and digital security are the most significant predictors.
