Abstract

Dong Thap folk architecture has been established and developed in association with the people’s struggle to survive and colonize. In addition to its artistic value, the architecture is also physical achievements of the times’ life, reflecting the process of exploration, conquest and adaptation to the natural environment. They also indicate religious philosophies and Eastern ideologies, as well as cross-culture contacts. Over time, Dong Thap folk architecture has accommodated new elements and enhanced its values in response to the historic-cultural development, making itself Dong Thap people’ heritage of great artistic values.
