Abstract

Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence is an important political work in modern Vietnam literature that has been taught in high schools for many years. Such issues as human rights, national rights, argumental methods, political styles have been mentioned quite clearly; however, ideological and cultural values should be further addressed. In terms of culture and ideology, this declaration contains the cultural quintessence of nation and mankind. The nation’s cultural quintessence in the Declaration is expressed in the fighting spirits for the country’ independence, the people’s freedom; humanism and international cooperation up to justice and civilization. The mankind’s cultural quintessence is stemmed from the ideas inherent in The American Declaration of Independence (1776), The French Declaration of the Human Rights and Citizenship (1789), Socialism by Marx - Lenin and the Three Principles of the People by Ton Trung Son. This paper is aimed to address these issues.
