Knowledge management in business: Exit interview content at some banks in Vietnam

Abstract
In the context that businesses are gradually focusing on knowledge management as a valuable asset, exit interviews are also receiving attention from businesses. Exit interviews help businesses collect hidden knowledge (work experience) from employees who are about to leave. The article uses the in-depth interview with 03 bank employees and 02 bank managers working at some banks in Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong. This is an exploratory study with a small sample size to focus on deeply understanding the experiences and perceptions of interviewees. The interview content aims to discover the contents that the survey subjects asked (for managers) or were asked (for employees) in exit interviews between bank representatives and employees about to leave. Survey results show that five contents are often collected by banks from the interviews, including: reasons for leaving, employee satisfaction with work and organization, considering employee retention, identifying the relationship between employees and direct managers, and some contents to avoid when conducting exit interviews.
