Abstract

This study aims to understand the process of Indian civilization's acculturation in Southeast Asia, especially in the fields of beliefs, religions, politics, arts and writing. Based on the analysis and synthesis of secondary documents, combined with inter-regional and inter-national comparisons between ancient kingdoms, the study clarifies the mechanisms and manifestations of Indian cultural acculturation. With an interdisciplinary approach between history, archaeology and ethnology, the article not only identifies the channels of dissemination and localization manifestations but also raises the issue of “Indianization” as a two-way cultural interaction process, in which indigenous people play an active and creative role in localizing and enriching imported values. The research results contribute to a clearer identification of the formation of ancient Southeast Asian cultural identity as a creative result of cross-regional cultural interaction.
