Abstract
This study aims to identify and analyze the attitudes and reactions of some Southeast Asian countries in the Israel-Hamas conflict since the October 7th, 2023. Data were collected from official and unofficial statements of the governments, people and media of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The study mainly used historical and logical methods to analyze the data. The results showed that there were 3 main groups of attitudes and reactions addressed by Southeast Asian countries towards the conflict from October 2023 to June 2025. These include three groups: (1) condemning Israel and supporting Hamas by Indonesia and Malaysia; (2) supporting Israel and condemning Hamas typically by Singapore and the Philippines; and (3) being neutral or having no clear attitude or reaction in the case of Vietnam and Thailand. In each country, attitudes and reactions are sometimes inconsistent due to differences in the stance and viewpoints of the government and the people. The research results are the basis for building and perfecting Vietnam's foreign policy towards Israel, Hamas in particular and the Middle East in general. This is an important foundation in the goal of consolidating a peaceful, prosperous and developed Southeast Asia.
