Abstract

Truc Phuong is one of the typical writers of Mekong Delta literature in particular and Viet Nam literature in general. Born and raised in the southern region of gratitude, he had joined the army, tasted all the tragedies of life, and witnessed human life of intertwined ups and downs during the war and in peace time. Accordingly, he has conditioned humanistic spirit in his short stories, consistently and clearly. Cognitively and artistically, Truc Phuong's short stories contain profound emotions and images of people with loss and pain in life. The writer understood, sympathized and pitied people of painful fate, boldly exposing the tragedy of people's lives with grievances; thereby, respecting and honoring the beauty of man. What remains after reading Truc Phuong's short stories is the contemplation and awareness in each of us. In the spirit of criticism for recognition and perfection, the writer portrayed perfect characters in the face of society's cruelty with a strong, bold tone. The tacit message is to convey the human spirit with tolerance, kindness, full of sympathy, sharing when human life is viewed in many differing aspects.
