Từ vai trò kích hoạt tư duy của truyện ngắn [6], bài viết này nhằm chứng minh truyện ngắn là tài liệu thích hợp để đưa sinh viên chuyên ngành tiếng Anh vào những hoạt động đọc và viết tiếng Anh. Đối tượng nghiên cứu gồm 79 sinh viên Khoa Ngữ văn Anh năm thứ nhất ở Trường Khoa học Xã hội và Nhân văn, thành phố Hồ Chí Minh. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy, viết luận qua những câu chuyện hiệu quả hơn so với cách dạy truyền thống là sinh viên viết, giáo viên sửa.
