Abstract

This article presents features of ve tales, addressing familiar subjects in the Southwestern region. Artistically, though with few shiny or polished words, this narrative genre has its own identities. Specifically, its folk authors have made good use of Vietnamese characteristics such as homonyms and synonyms to describe subjects related. Moreover, there are open-close textures and the reversed ones. It is these artistic features that characterize Southwestern ve tales of subjects, and all who learn and enjoy it will unmistakably recognize it as a local folklore, unlike those from other regions.
