Abstract

Self-study competence is an essential general competence. It greatly supports the development of mathematical competence, contributing to the formation and development of students’ qualities and abilities in the context of general education reform. Analyzing the theoretical foundations of self-study competence in Mathematics, the characteristics of the topic “Coordinates of Vectors in Space” (Grade 12), and the contract-based teaching, this article identifies the manifestations of students’ self-study competence in learning this topic. At the same time, it proposes a process of applying contract-based teaching to foster self-study competence, illustrated through the lesson “Coordinates of Vectors”.
