Computational Thinking as a key factor for improving mathematical competence: 
insight from reference questions and Vietnam’s 2025 national graduation math exam

mathematical abilities, particularly in the context of modern education that prioritizes logical reasoning, problem-solving, and the integration of technology. CT enables students to approach mathematics in a systematic and creative way while developing essential skills in analysis, modeling, and the automation of problem-solving processes.
Through an examination of reference questions and the Vietnam’s 2025 Mathematics Graduation Exam, the paper illustrates the prominent presence of CT elements within the structure of the exam questions—ranging from tasks that require problem decomposition and pattern recognition to the construction of algorithms or procedure of problem solving steps. Many questions go beyond testing knowledge to assess students' logical reasoning and problem-solving competence. The paper asserts that CT is a key factor in not only improving students' performance in mathematics but also equipping them with the skills necessary for success in the digital age.
