Current status of sexuality education activities for preschoolers at kindergartens in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

The article presents research findings on the current state of sexuality education activities for preschool children in kindergartens in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City. The study employed a questionnaire survey of 120 administrators and teachers working at eight kindergartens in the district. The results indicate that sex education activities for preschoolers have received attention and been implemented in kindergartens, yielding some documented outcomes. However, assessments across goal setting, content, methods, delivery formats, and coordination among stakeholders reveal certain limitations. Most notably is the absence of dedicated support mechanisms for this work and teachers’ difficulties in designing age-appropriate, integrated sexuality education activities aligned with preschool children’s developmental characteristics. The findings provide a basis for organizing and implementing these activities more effectively in Ho Chi Minh City’s kindergartens in the period ahead.
