Methods to improve english pronunciation for the first-year English majors at Dong Thap University
Main Article Content
Abstract
The results of the study on the current pronunciation of the first year English majors at Dong Thap University showed that their English pronunciation is limited and needs more practice. Many methods were applied to improve their pronunciation. The efficient ones include distinguishing the differences between the English and Vietnamese phonology, the online pronunciation practice, more practices on difficult sounds and feedback from the teachers about errors in the recorded passages. These practice methods do play an important part in improving the first year majors’ pronunciation. Practicing regularly is the essential requirement for all the methods to obtain good pronunciation.
