Ways of improving english listening skills for students in Bui Thi Xuan Primary School, Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province

Abstract
This article aims to investigate the realities of teaching and learning English in Bui Thi Xuan Primary School, Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Provice. Also, it suggests 9 ways of imrpoving English listening skills for students at this school. They include 1) following the procedures for teaching English listening skills, 2) using various and flexible techniques in the ‘3 steps” in each listening period, 3) training the concentration for students, 4) imrpoving word stress and sentence intonation, 5) improving minimal pairs, difficult words and standard pronunciation, 6) using language games in listening periods, 7) encouraging students to speak English after listening, 8) using teaching visual aids, and 9) using e-learning lesson plans in some listening periods. Obtained results are the students have improved their listening skills and can communicate in English better.
