Initial research on the current status of Lesser Adjutant (Leptoptilos javanicus) in U Minh Ha National Park, Ca Mau province

Abstract
The study on the population status of Lesser Adjutant (Leptoptilos javanicus) in U Minh Ha National Park was conducted from January 2024 to July 2025, with a total of 258 surveys/20 routes. The main survey method used was direct observation in the wild. The survey results showed that the number of individual Lesser Adjutant (Leptoptilos javanicus) was relatively low, with sightings ranging from 1 to 4 individuals and a very low encounter frequency (12/258 surveys). This indicates that Lesser Adjutant (Leptoptilos javanicus) is very rare in the area and requires prioritization of conservation measures. These research results provide a basis for U Minh Ha National Park to assess the population fluctuations of the Lesser Adjutant (Leptoptilos javanicus) in the future.
