Designing integrated games for sustainable development education on teaching the topic "Hydrocarbons and fuel sources" in Natural Science Grade 9

Abstract
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is becoming an essential trend in modern teaching. However, integrating ESD into the curriculum in general, and into Natural Sciences education in particular, still faces many challenges. This study introduces the design and implementation of integrated games into ESD on teaching the topic "Hydrocarbons and Fuel Sources" in the Grade 9 Natural Sciences curriculum. The results of a pedagogical experiment conducted with 47 students indicate this approach had a positive impact on enhancing students' understanding of sustainable development knowledge related to "Hydrocarbons and Fuel Sources." Accordingly, the study provides recommendations for effectively incorporating educational games that integrate ESD into Natural Sciences teaching.
