Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is becoming an essential trend in modern teaching. However, integrating ESD into the curriculum in general, and into Natural Sciences education in particular, still presents many challenges. This study introduces the design and implementation of an educational game that integrates ESD content into teaching the topic "Hydrocarbons and Fuel Sources" in the Grade 9 Natural Sciences curriculum. The results of a pedagogical experiment conducted with 47 students indicate that the game had a positive impact on enhancing students' understanding of sustainable development knowledge related to "Hydrocarbons and Fuel Sources." Through observations during the pedagogical experiment, the study also provides recommendations for effectively incorporating educational games that integrate ESD into Natural Sciences teaching.
