Current digital competence development among lower secondary school teachers in Xuan Thoi Son Commune, Ho Chi Minh City
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study investigated and evaluated the current situation of digital competence development for teachers at lower secondary schools in Xuan Thoi Son Commune, Ho Chi Minh City. Using a questionnaire survey administered to school administrators and teachers, the findings indicate that digital competence development has achieved initial positive results, contributing to meeting the requirements of educational digital transformation. However, several limitations remain, including professional development content disaligned with subject-specific characteristics, limited digital pedagogical competence and information security awareness, uneven technical infrastructure, and inspection and evaluation practices not fully created motivation for innovation. Thereby, several recommendations are given to enhance the effectiveness of digital competence development for teachers in the current context of educational reform. The research findings may serve as a reference for educational administrators in organizing and directing the development of teachers’ digital competence at lower secondary schools with similar conditions.
