Leadership – Management: similarities and differences

Abstract
Leading is an activity to initiate policies, strategies for an organisation, whereas managing is the one that leads the implementation of those policies and strategies. Meanwhile, leaders’ subjects to impact on are mainly human, managers apply disciplinary measures based on legislation and regulations to achieve their targets. However, not all leaders who can understand the nature of these two activities. Resultantly, some leaders and managers cannot fulfill their roles in their organisations. Hence, in terms of both theory and reality, it is necessary to distinguish the nature of these two activities.
