Abstract

Buddhism is considered the national religion in Myanamr. With its harmony and adaptation, Buddhism quickly became an important factor and a prominant feature of Myanmar’s traditional culture, specifically found in the people’s life style, literature, traditional drama, architecture, and painting. Buddhist themes were used and expressed in the early Myanmar paintings by talented artists. These Buddhist themes in painting were one way to show respect from both artists and the Myanmar people towards Buddha – the enlightened and almighty Figure.
