Abstract

Credit growth is one of the top priorities of the Government and the banking sector in the current period. From the early 2014, the Prime Minister has directed Vietnam State Bank to deal with negative debts, and foster credit growth for banking improvement and economic development. This study analyses factors affecting credit growth of Vietnam’s commercial banks2007 – 2014 period. The obtained results by means of REM and GMM show that mobilized capital and economic growths have positive impacts on credit growth of the banks. In contrast, negative debt rate, bank size and inflation rate are unfavorable factors to credit growth of Vietnam’s commercial banks.
