Current status of managing experiential activities for students at lower secondary schools in Thong Tay Hoi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract
This study investigates the current status of managing experiential activities in lower secondary schools in Thong Tay Hoi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The research employed a survey combined with in-depth interviews. The sample included 183 principals and teachers from five lower secondary schools in the research area. Additionally, six participants (three school administrators and three teachers) were interviewed to provide qualitative insights supporting the quantitative results. The findings indicate that managerial functions related to experiential activities, including planning, organizing, directing, and evaluation, have been implemented in schools; however, the implementation level is generally moderate. Limitations mainly relate to resource mobilization, coordination among educational stakeholders, and evaluation of students’ participation processes. The study highlights the important role of school principals in coordinating and managing experiential activities to enhance educational effectiveness in accordance with the competency-based orientation of the 2018 General Education Curriculum.
