Abstract

The article surveys and analyzes the current status of managing teaching activities of Physical Education subject on capacity development at high schools in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. The study was conducted with 40 managers and 120 teachers of three high schools, using mixed methods. The survey results show that the majority of managers and teachers are clearly aware of the importance of managing teaching activities of Physical Education on the capacity development orientation. In general, the management contents from planning, organizing, directing to checking and evaluating are all implemented at a fairly good level, showing seriousness and progress compared to before. The outstanding strengths are the coordination between departments in the school, the attention to professional activities, class observation and sharing teaching experiences. However, the results also show certain limitations. These include that some plans which are still formal, coordination with forces outside the school is not tight, facilities and funding are limited, while the monitoring and feedback mechanism is not really synchronized. From these results, it can be affirmed that the management of physical education teaching activities in high schools in District 7 has received due attention, but there is still a need for a more comprehensive and sustainable solution to meet the requirements of general education innovation in the direction of developing students' capacity.
