Abstract

Life skills education plays an important role in shaping pupils’ qualities and developing their competencies in primary education. This study aims to assess the current status of managing life skills education activities from a participatory approach at six primary schools in Rach Dua Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, through a survey of 177 school administrators and teachers using a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire combined with interviews, classroom observations, and descriptive statistical analysis. The findings indicate that schools have initially implemented the core management components of planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating life skills education activities in a relatively coordinated manner, thereby promoting the active roles of teachers and pupils. However, the participation of parents and the community, as well as feedback and improvement mechanisms, remains limited, which undermines the sustainable effectiveness of life skills education based on a participatory approach.
