Developing mathematical modeling competency for 10th-grade students through the topic “solving triangles and their practica applications”

Abstract
Mathematical thinking and reasoning competency, problem-solvingcompetency, mathematical modeling competency, mathematical communication competency, and competency in using tools and learning aids are all core mathematical competencies that mathematics instruction is essential in developing. Mathematical modeling competency is one of the specific competencies that is emphasized. It helps students identify real-world problems, build mathematical models, find solutions, and evaluate results within a given context. This not only enhances students' logical thinking but also helps them gain a deeper understanding of the nature of mathematics and its flexible applications in life. This is a crucial competency that connects mathematics with other fields such as engineering, science, economics, and society. This article focuses on analyzing the manifestations of students' mathematical modeling competency and proposes measures to develop this competency in 10th-grade students through the topic of “Solving Triangles and Their Practical Applications”.
