Current situation of managing school culture development activities in junior high schools in Phuoc Thang Ward, Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract
School culture development plays a crucial role in establishing a safe and healthy educational environment and in fostering students’ qualities and competencies in line with current educational reforms. This study investigates the current status of managing school culture development activities in lower secondary schools in Phuoc Thang Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, with the aim of identifying the level of implementation, strengths, limitations, and factors influencing management quality. The research employed a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews, collecting data from 9 school administrators and 91 teachers using a five-point Likert scale. The survey focused on four core management functions: planning, organizing implementation, directing, and monitoring–evaluation. The findings indicate that the management of school culture development activities is generally at a fairly good level with relatively clear goal setting, fairly effective coordination among educational stakeholders, and the initial establishment of activities that promote positive cultural values within schools. These results provide an important basis for proposing measures to improve the management task in a more systematic, substantive, and context-appropriate manner, aligned with the conditions of Phuoc Thang Ward in the coming period.
