Current teacher workforce development in lower secondary schools in Thot Not District, Can Tho City

Abstract
This article presents the results of a survey on the current teacher workforce development in lower secondary schools in Thot Not District, Can Tho City. The study employed a questionnaire-based survey with a 5-point Likert scale, designed to assess key aspects such as recruitment practices, professional development, remuneration policies, and working environment. A total of 360 respondents participated in the survey, including 25 school administrators, 5 officers from the Department of Education and Training, and 330 teachers currently working at lower secondary in the district. The results revealed that while the teacher workforce achieved certain accomplishments in terms of professional qualifications and sense of responsibility, limitations still exist regarding opportunities for in-depth training, application of information technology, and the lack of systematic individual career development planning. These findings provide important practical evidence to propose comprehensive measures for developing the lower secondary school teacher workforce in alignment with the requirements of the 2018 General Education Curriculum reform.
