The current situation of managing local education activities in upper secondary schools in Bu Dang District, Binh Phuoc Province

Abstract
This article presents the findings of a study on the current situation of managing local education activities in upper secondary schools in Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc province, based on five management functions: planning, organizing implementation, directing, monitoring and evaluation, and managing supportive conditions. The study employed questionnaires and in-depth interviews involving school administrators, teachers, and students in the district. The results show that local education activities have been implemented with growing attention and have achieved several positive outcomes. Administrators, teachers, and students are aware of the importance of local education; the content and organizational forms are appropriate to local conditions; and collaboration among schools, local authorities, and communities has been strengthened. However, planning remains unspecific; implementation is inconsistent among schools; direction is not carried out regularly; monitoring and evaluation are still formalistic; and supportive conditions such as facilities, funding, and learning materials are limited. Based on these findings, the study proposes five management measures: (1) Strengthening the planning of local education in a specific, feasible, and locally appropriate manner; (2) Improving the effectiveness of organizing the implementation of local education; (3) Strengthening the direction of local education activities; (4) Enhancing monitoring and evaluation of local education activities; and (5) Improving the management of conditions supporting local education activities. These measures contribute to improving the quality and effectiveness of managing local education in accordance with the 2018 General Education Curriculum.
