Studying propagation of asiatic painted frog (Kaloula pulchra)

Abstract
This study was carried out to evaluate the reproductive efficiency of asiatic painted frog (Kaloula pulchra) with artificial stimulant injections. The reproductive biological indicators obtained were latency time 5.2 ± 0.8 hours at 28.6 ± 0.10C; spawning rate 62.5 ± 7.0%; fecundity 143.285 ± 5,860 eggs/kg; fertilization rate 94.7 ± 2.0%; hatching time 20.5 ± 0.9 hours at 28.6 ± 0.10C with hatching rate 98.1 ± 0.8%, metamorphosis time 15.0 ± 0.1 days at 30.1 ± 0.10C and survival rate of froglet on 40 days of nursing 13.8 ± 1.4%. This is the first study about propagation of asiatic painted frog in Vietnam; therefore the results recorded are important data for further research in this species.
