Teaching reading to graders 4 & 5 by exploring skills for text appreciation

Abstract
Reading is one of the four skills that demonstrate linguistic competence and it plays a very important role in learning and communication for human beings, including elementary school students. Reading instruction at elementary school is not just learning to read texts but also understand and appreciate them. This article proposes ways to teach reading for graders 4 & 5 by exploring reading strategies (silent reading, summary reading, comprehension reading, text-appreciation reading) to assist students improve reading skills and appreciate literary works, contributing to the formation and development of their personalities.
